In the year 1966 Mao came up with the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, which led to the youths who believed in him strongly killing people, looting property, ransacking and punishing people. Red Guard youths were driven by the words of Mao "rough and harsh and wildà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ . This lead to the death of 400, 000 people. It ended in the year 1968, and Mao died in the year 1976.
